A quiet corner of the internet, a little closer to the heart.

USING THIS READING SPACE

Terms of Use.

The website

The Essence of My Life is operated by Ayesha Akhtar for reading poetry, exploring literary interpretations and practising creative writing. Public reading does not require an account. The website may be revised, and individual pieces may be edited or unpublished.

Creative writing and commentary

Poems can use imagined speakers and scenes. Reading notes describe interpretations rather than verified events in the operator’s life. Journal exercises are creative-writing material, not professional medical, legal or religious advice. Source and AI-assistance information is provided in the editorial policy.

Respectful use

Use the site without interfering with its operation, attempting unauthorised administrator access or submitting spam, abusive messages or malicious code. The contact form is for relevant correspondence, corrections, privacy and permissions questions. Sending a message does not make it a public contribution or create a promise that it will be published.

Content and permission

Rights differ between original submissions, third-party selections, AI-assisted material, graphics and licensed font software. See the copyright page before assuming a work can be republished. Copy and save controls are convenience features, not an unrestricted republication licence.

Community submission terms

You can submit an original poem, blog or journal without creating an account. Use a chosen name or pen name you are entitled to use. Do not impersonate another writer or submit someone else’s writing as your own. You confirm that you wrote the work and have any permission needed for quotations or other included material. Disclose AI assistance honestly using the form.

You keep your rights in your work. By confirming the submission permission, you grant the operator a non-exclusive permission to store, review, format and, if approved, display your submitted writing with your chosen name on this website, including pages on a site that may carry advertising. This does not transfer ownership or grant unrelated reuse. The operator may correct small errors or formatting without changing the meaning; material changes should be discussed with you. You can request withdrawal through the contact form.

Submission does not promise publication, payment, a share of advertising revenue or a review deadline. All new writing starts privately pending review. The operator can decline, remove or return a piece to private status. No automatic confirmation or moderation email is sent in this version. The chosen name and authorship information on a community page are supplied by the writer, rather than independently verified identity claims.

Keep contributions relevant to poetry, personal reflections and creative writing. Do not submit hate, threats, harassment, explicit sexual material, spam, malicious code, unlawful material or personal information about others without permission. Keep private or sensitive details out of your public writing. Rights and safety concerns can be reported through the contact link on each community page.

Privacy and external services

The Privacy Policy describes contact details, necessary cookies, saved words and advertising where enabled. External links lead to services with their own terms and data practices. This website does not control those external services.

Availability and contact

The operator aims to provide a usable reading experience but does not promise uninterrupted access or a particular result from an exercise. You can report a broken page, ask a question or raise a concern through the contact form.
